In 1992, the Portugal Macau government signed a cooperative agreement with EU. According this agreement, Macau built up a bridge that connects European and Chinese small and middle-sized enterprises.
EU and government Macau established “Euro-China Economic Perspective Plan ” with the hope of promoting the cooperation between European SMEs and Chinese private enterprises.
EU and the government of Macau founded Euro-China Entrepreneurs Club (MECEC). This institution commits itself to facilitating the long-term cooperation of European and Chinese enterprises. Up till now, the honorary president of MECEC is still the former Macau Viceroy.
Entrusted by EU, MECEC was the executing institution for the Asia-Invest from 1998.
